D.J. Starks
Program Director
Head Coach 17U

D.J. Starks is entering his second year with the Colorado Clutch basketball program. During last season he was the associate head coach of the 17U team. This year he takes over as both Program Director and Head Coach of Colorado Clutch 17U.

D.J.'s discipline and leadership experience span throughout the 23 years he served his country in the United States Army before having recently retired, in addition to 15+ years of playing and coaching. A stand out athlete in high school, Starks would earn himself an opportunity to play basketball at the D1 level at East Central Missouri. While serving in the Army, Starks was selected to the All-Army basketball teams from 2003-05 where he would take part in winning gold and bronze medals.

Starks began his coaching career in 2009 at Fort Campbell Middle School where he led them to a Jr. High School State Championship in his first year, followed by a state runner-up finish the following year. During last year as assistant coach, D.J. helped lead the Colorado Clutch 17U to two tournament championship crowns.

Coach D.J. believes that every player deserves the chance to turn their dreams into reality by instilling hard work, discipline, and character. His goal with Clutch is for every player who wears the uniform to not only develop skills on the court, but also develop life skills off the court. Coach D.J.'s favorite motto is "you won't get there thinking about it, so just do it."

Coach D.J. holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Sports Management
